Read more about our children's classroom workshops, including our Microplastics Investigation Workshop and our Discovering Watershed Workshop.

The Microplastics Investigation Workshop provides students in Grades 6,7, and 8 with scientific research activities designed to help them gain a deeper understanding of human interactions with the environment, biodiversity, and water systems that make up the watersheds of Georgian Bay and the surrounding area.

The goal is to give students an immersive experience through hands-on investigation, and the opportunity to understand their relationship with the local environment. This workshop allows for meaningful interactions and a better understanding of how human-made pollution impacts the watersheds of Georgian Bay.

We have delivered programs to over 20 classes, educating upwards of 300 students spanning from Meaford to Manitoulin Island. We also offer teachers the chance to borrow our Microplastics in a Backpack kits, which allow for schools and classrooms to run the program themselves.

Discovering Watersheds is a workshop that includes scientific activities and discussion, and use of the Enviroscapes (interactive 3D models of watersheds), so that students are provided with a hands-on experience, and a demonstration of how water and pollution travel through communities, impacting the environment and water quality. In partnership with the Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority, we host a variety of activities for children from Grades 1 through 5.
