About the event
We are organizing a Community Cut on August 8th at Tay Shore Trail.
We invite the local community to come and join us, get out, and get their hands dirty to help protect the biodiversity and future of Tay Shore Trail. Come August 8th, and help stop invasive phragmites from gaining a greater foothold in our waterways; you will learn about how to identify the invasive vs native phragmites, why invasive phragmites are a threat, how to use non-chemical methods to eliminate them, and how you can help control there spread in the future.
Please bring equipment that is sustainable for working outdoors.
- Boots, watershoes and/or waders (if they have them) – we work in water, on shore and on land
- Gloves
- Hat, sunscreen, water, bugspray
- GBF will provide equipment used for removal but volunteers are welcome to bring personal tools to use such as pruners, snips, rakes, spade shovel…etc.
