The GB4

Georgian Bay Association (GBA)

An advocacy group established in 1916, the GBA works on behalf of 18 member associations on the east and north shores of Georgian Bay, informing all levels of government and various stakeholders of pertinent issues for Georgian Bay and its communities. The GBA takes a proactive stance to mitigate potential issues before they turn into big problems. It is the only GB4 organization that is not a charity.

Georgian Bay Land Trust (GBLT)

The GBLT has worked for more than 30 years to preserve the wilderness of the North Channel and eastern Georgian Bay area. This unique and environmentally significant region is under continuous threat of aggressive development for commercial, industrial, and private means. By securing land for conservation and protection, the GBLT helps to ensure that the natural environment of Georgian Bay stays natural.

Georgian Bay Biosphere (GBB)

Since 1998 the GBB has worked to build and grow relationships and initiatives that prioritize sustainability for Georgian Bay’s communities and ecosystem. With a focus on strong networks and social mobility, the GBB helps to facilitate community growth by providing planning and support for social innovation. They take an intersectional approach to developing strategies, identifying the complex needs and goals of communities to help them prosper on an economic, environmental, and cultural level.

Georgian Bay Forever (GBF)

Originally a facet of the Georgian Bay Association, GBF has been an independent science-based organization focused on the aquatic ecosystem of Georgian Bay since 1995. The scope of GBF’s work encompasses the entirety of Georgian Bay’s water, wetlands, and shores, making it the only pan-Georgian Bay organization of the GB4. By using scientific research and data collection, along with active programming in the field, GBF monitors the health of Georgian Bay’s water, and develops practical solutions-based initiatives for the preservation and betterment of its delicate ecosystem.
